| Dr. Borgo's favorite Dracula poster |
On Sept 29, 1930 filming began on 'DRACULA' starring Bela Lugosi. Directed by Tod
Browning for Universal Pictures. Lugosi was paid $500 a week for his work. Some people claim that Lon Chaney wanted the starring
role. One wonders what a Lon Chaney Dracula would have looked like. Bela Lugosi was forever typecast as a Horror villian after
Dracula. Many have played the Count but Bela Lugosi created the iconic image everyone associates with Dracula. Keep your eye
out for Bela to show those famous Dracula fangs. If you keep looking for them you will be disappointed. Bela didn't wear any
fangs in the movie. If you have never seen Universal Pictures Dracula you should treat yourself to a late night viewing
of this classic. It seems very dated by todays standards but in Dr. Borgo's humble opinion....thats what makes it great.
