| Dr. Frankenstein and Fritz in the famous scene where the monster is given life |

|
| Dr. Frankenstein's creation |
"Its alive !! Its alive !!" Dr. Frankenstein exclaims after observing
the monsters hand move ever so slightly. Loud crashing thunder booms. Lightning flashes. The set that Universal Pictures
used for filming 1931's 'Frankenstein' was huge for its time. Giant Tesla coils, lightning machines, various
hand switches , 50 ft. chain hoists and other pieces of impressive equipment were exactly what you would expect a mad
doctor to employ to bring "life" to dead tissue. This famous scene is one of the greatest ever to be put on film. In
the scene Dr. Frankenstein says, "Now I know what it feels like to be God." This line was edited out of the film
for decades. It was deemed blasphemous by movie censors. In fact some people didn't even believe that this
line was ever said. An urban legend some figured. However, on the new Frankenstein Legacy Collection DVD the line is included.

Following the success of Dracula, Universal Pictures released Frankenstein in 1931.
A true classic creature feature, Frankenstein has some of the most stunning visuals to be found in any of Universal's early
movies. Unknown stage actor Boris Karloff was cast as Frankenstein's Monster and Colin Clive as Dr. Frankenstein. Also included
were actors Edward Van Sloan and Dwight Frye from Dracula. The movie is very mild by todays standards but in 1931 this
tale of creating a living creature from dead body parts was indeed truly horrific. Frankenstein has it all for the true classic
Horror lover. Grave robbing, Gothic visuals, a living dead monster and one pesky hunchback.
